Around 23.00 we arrived in Athens and with the metro we went to the Student’s and traveler’s inn where we would spend our nights. We got up at 10.00 and after breakfast we did what everyone does at the first day in Athens; you go to visit …… Zara, Berschka, Pull and Bear! At first I didn’t really feel like shopping, but the stores were really nice and the sales huge! The shopping took quite some time and after we all had put on a new shirt we went for a drink and dinner. Dinner was really good and when we asked where there are nice places to have a drink we were told to go to Monastiraki. So we walked about 10 minutes to get to a metro station and took the metro to Monastiraki.
It wasn’t until the next day that we realized we had been traveling from Monastiraki to Monastiraki via Omonia!! When we were walking in the city the next day we saw the place where we had dinner the previous night and at the other sight of the road we saw the street where we had a drink! The night before we hadn’t seen that the metro station from Monastiraki was right next to the restaurant and we didn’t know that we were already in Monastiraki. Stupid girls (8) But ok :p
Of course we have also visited the Akropolis, but unfortunately they are reconstructing there which kinda ruins the nice sights now. In the evening it was carnival, but here it’s kinda different than in Holland. People here walk around with plastic bats and hit whoever passes by. So it was a survival to get back to the hostel without getting hurt too hard, but we managed.
The next day, Sunday, we went to the flea market. But it didn’t take long till we got tired of it and since there wasn’t actually anything left to do in Athens we decided to go with the train to Thessaloniki in the afternoon. So around 15.00 we took the train to go to Thessaloniki and really start the exchange.

Is vakantie in Greece wat voor mij? Gezien al die oudheden. Lijkt mij prachtig om het eens te zien. Geniet van de tijd.
